Potrillos Mexican Restaurant
If you’re craving authentic Mexican food in Ada, Oklahoma, there’s one name that locals consistently mention—Potrillos Mexican Restaurant. Tucked away at 2004 N Broadway Ave, this spot blends vibrant flavors, colorful atmosphere, and warm hospitality in a way that makes you feel right at home from the first bite to the last. Open daily from 11:00 AM to 9:30 PM, Potrillos is more than just another place to grab a quick plate of tacos—it’s where you go for comfort, consistency, and a little culinary escape south of the border.
From my years in the restaurant industry, I’ve learned that standout Mexican cuisine is about more than seasoning—it’s about balance. Potrillos Mexican Restaurant understands that. The menu here delivers a perfect mix of spice, freshness, and texture, covering all the classics: enchiladas, chimichangas, fajitas, burritos, street tacos, and combination platters that let you sample the best of everything. If you’re searching for “best Mexican restaurant in Ada OK,” chances are this is exactly the kind of place you’re hoping to find.
Start with the chips and salsa, which hit the table as soon as you sit down. The chips are warm and crisp, and the salsa has that fresh, house-made bite—slightly smoky, just the right amount of heat, and definitely addictive. You’ll find yourself asking for a second basket before the entrées even arrive.
When it comes to entrées, one of the top menu items is the Molcajete, a sizzling stone bowl filled with grilled steak, chicken, shrimp, nopales, and chorizo, all simmered in a rich red sauce and topped with queso fresco and sliced avocado. It’s hearty, flavorful, and designed to impress. Another customer favorite is the Fajita Texanas—served on a hot skillet, packed with perfectly grilled meat and vegetables, and complemented by rice, beans, tortillas, and all the fixings.
If you’re in the mood for something classic and comforting, their enchiladas verdes with shredded chicken are a standout. The tomatillo-based sauce is tangy and just spicy enough, balancing beautifully against the cheese and meat filling. Pair it with their Mexican rice (fluffy, flavorful, never mushy) and refried beans, and you've got a plate that tastes like it came straight from a Mexican home kitchen.
Of course, no visit is complete without a round from the full-service bar. Their house margaritas are strong, citrusy, and dangerously easy to drink. Go for a frozen mango or strawberry if you want to mix it up. They also serve Mexican beers, micheladas, and cocktails that pair perfectly with the bold flavors coming out of the kitchen.
The setting at Potrillos Mexican Restaurant is casual and colorful, with hand-painted murals, warm lighting, and upbeat music that gives the space an energy all its own. It’s a great pick whether you’re bringing the family, grabbing lunch with coworkers, or heading out for a relaxed dinner with friends. And yes, they’ve got plenty of space for groups, with friendly, efficient service that keeps the experience running smoothly no matter how busy it gets.
What makes Potrillos really shine is its ability to balance tradition and variety. Whether you’re ordering something familiar like a carne asada taco or branching out into seafood with their Camarones a la Diabla, there’s depth in every dish—and clearly a lot of love behind it. The kitchen pays attention to seasoning, portion size, and presentation, and it shows on every plate that hits the table.
They also offer takeout, which is ideal for those days when you want restaurant-quality food without leaving home. Packaging holds up well, and they’re known for getting orders right and on time—something that’s more rare than it should be in the casual dining world.
For anyone exploring restaurants in Ada or passing through on a road trip down Highway 3, Potrillos is the kind of place that makes you wish it were in your hometown. It's a local favorite, a hidden gem, and exactly what you're hoping for when you're searching for authentic Mexican food near me—flavorful, affordable, and always satisfying.

This place is beyond 5 stars!!! OMG... the food, the portions were out of this world. Finally, a place that makes authentic mexican food!! Our waitress was Tori and she is great! Her personality is radiant! The owner visited every table and that was truly a breath of fresh air! Let me say this, you get chips and salsa. The salsa is excellent! I wish the chips were hot and thinner but they were still good! Love this place...my new guilty pleasure!
